Hi all! Finally have some time to put you up to date with what's been happening. We played on Monday January 30th at HERR NILSEN's in Oslo. The venue is an old Jazz club with lovely atmosphere, nowadays a "must" for most Jazz/Blues/Country/Bluegrass acts, both local and foreign. A great stage and sound, and very cosy allround. Everything went great, thanks to all of you that came to the show, it's always special to have people leaving their warm homes to venture through the snow to hear my music and have a good time! Thanks to the helpful staff and sound people at the venue, definitely somewhere I'd be happy to return to. A few days later me and the guys travelled out to Notodden to return to BELLMAN, where I performed in March last year. And as with last year's gig, a fantastic evening :) Playing in that area always feels like a homecoming of sorts to me, for so many reasons I won't get into. Even more so to Line, Jan, Fredrik and Marius who are originally from nearby. It's always great for musicians to see and play for friends and family, and that really came across, we all had a great time performing. Thanks to you all, and the kind staff and Jack on the sound. Personally I'll say that was one of my favourite shows yet, so thank you Notodden! The pictures featured are from our Bellman soundcheck, kindly taken by Marjit Vinjerui, who's performances with me at both gigs were brilliant!Some exciting plans are coming together concerning recording. It's been a while since I had some studio time, so I'm really hoping it all comes together. More news on that soon. Meanwhile we'll be getting things ready for the album release in April! Hey all! Can't wait to kick off the year with the gigs next week: Monday's show at Herr Nielsen in Olso starts at 9PM sharp, I'll be on stage first, followed by the lovely Marjit Vinjerui. Later in the week, for Friday's trip down to Notodden to play at Bellman we'll be switching slots. Hey all! Hope Christmas and New Year were great! I'll be kicking off the year playing the Herr Nielsen Club in Oslo, Monday January 30st, and will then travel down to Notodden to return to the great Bellman Pub on Friday February 3rd! Hope to see you there! Meanwhile the lovely guys at Radio Nova's Nova Nedstrippa Show have made my cover version of Journey's classic "Don't Stop Believing" available online. The song was played live on their show as part of a challenge they had for all guests all through 2011. I enjoyed the challenge, give it a listen! :)

Re-schedule all plans you had for April 2012! :) My debut album entitled TWISTS & TURNS will be realeased that month on Friday the 13th (of course!) by MeteorSongs, and distributed digitally worldwide. That will make it available for download and streaming on services such as iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and WiMP around the Globe! A release party/concert will take place on Tuesday, April 17th, at the always wonderful Cafe Mono (www.cafemono.no - Oslo, Norway) and a promotional tour around the country will follow. All venues and dates will be confirmed and posted as soon as possible. My aptly titled debut album will feature many of the songs I've been playing live and promoting online over the past 18 months. The album is a window into the last few years of my life as a solo singer/songwriter, a personal and sometimes difficult affair no doubt. A full tracklist, artwork and other production details will follow in early 2012, along with information on the physical edition of the album. I'm opening the champagne now, and I hope you'll join me in a toast to the ocasion! Thanks to everyone for the continued belief and enthusiasm over the last few years! Hey all! I'll be playing on Radio Nova's NOVA NEDSTRIPPA show this coming Friday. The show will feature 6 live studio songs, including my cover-version of Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" (a Radio Nova challenge...), and an always fun interview. I'll also be debuting 2 of my recorded songs on Norwegian airwaves, horay! Radio Nova broadcast locally in Oslo at 99.3 FM. For all of you outside Norway that wish to listen in you can go to www.radionova.no (just click on the live broadcast button on the top of the page, a red-coloured "play" triangle I believe). If you miss the show live you can listen to it later on by going to http://www.radionova.no/programmer/novanedstrippa and clicking on the show's date (09/12/2011) under the REPRISER section. Hey everyone! In a sudden development of events, charged with the scent of adventure, I'll be playing live on Radio Nova's Skumma Kultur show TOMORROW Friday November 18th! The show airs at 9:30AM Oslo time. I've been invited onto the show to cover a song called "Her Kommer Vinteren" by lengendary Norwegian songwriter Joachim Nielsen (Jokke)! What an honour! It will be a translated DD Peartree take on the seasonal classic and I can't wait to try it out live! Radio Nova broadcast on 99,3FM Oslo, more infos on www.radionova.no. A Kristiansand double and other returns

Hey all! Had a good time at Sørveiv 2011, a long trip there and back but well worth it! Me and Marjit Vinjerui had an always tough opening slot on the Max Volume Ernst stage but ended up enjoying our 30 mins greatly.

Cheers to the great Jan Birger Akerhaugen for joining in and making the trip with us, plus to all present for the support! Later we had time to access the other venues that were part of the well organized festival/conference cycle, and doing so managed to catch a great Line Kåsa set at the Pir 6 club. On returning to the Max Volume Ernst venue we were greeted with an energetic set from Londoners Hundred Streams and got to watch the always good Uniforms & Dropouts. A good evening no doubt! Me and Marjit Vinjerui will in fact be returning to Kristiansand later this month. We will feature as part of the På Hjørnet club's "Acoustic Sundays" on the November 27th. It's a free entry event, features other artists and kicks off at 21:00. We hope to see you there! www.pahjornet.no

This coming Sunday, November 20th, I'll be playing again in Oslo, this time at the Søndagsbarn held at the cozy Akers Mek. An early evening solo acoustic set in a perfect place for some good food and company, so if you're in the area please drop by, you won't regret it! Autumn Meteor

Hey all! Settling into new surroundings, feeling my way around, and receiving great news :) I've signed a Promotion and Booking deal with METEOR MANAGEMENT D.A. covering Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Iceland! It's a great opportunity to build and grow so I'm really looking foward to start working on all the ideas we've been throwing around. METEOR feature some fabulous up and coming artists/bands and are fired up to get all of us and our music out there! I'll be working very closely with them, we've started booking gigs for late Autumn and we'll pick up the pace with bookings through Winter and Spring, so look out for me! I'll be playing with fellow METEOR managed artist MARJIT VINJERUI on a few promotional showcases in the near future, be sure to check out her lovely music. While you're doing that be sure to also check out LINE KÅSA, another METEOR favourite of mine!

Hey all! A few changes coming up again for me, and I'm happy to say I'll be in Norway promoting my music from October onwards. I'm really excited to be going back to Oslo, yet again, and I'll be posting events in the city and elsewhere as they are confirmed. I can announce I'll be featured on a Radio Nova show, with a 25 minute live performance, short interview and song broadcast on December 9th, I'll post more details soon :) Radio Nova broadcasts on 99.3 FM in Oslo, more info on www.radionova.no.

Hey all! While back in Madeira for a few days made the trip to Santana to perform after a kind invitation from the guys at TERTIUS BAR. Thanks to everyone there for a great reception, so good to see some friendly faces and meet some great new people! Thanks so much! I was joined performing by my often road-companion Helder Gonçalves on bass, thanks mate ;) I didn't manage to fit in any other gigs on such short notice on this trip to Madeira, but rest assured that my next visit to the island will feature many more events, promise! Back safe and sound from an amazing week back in Norway! The shows were awesome, great feedback, great coverage and interest from the press, and best of all I got to see so many of my dear friends living there! Even got to see some travelling swedes (Cheers Kristian!). A special thank you to the amazing friends/musicians that shared the stages with me (Marius, Jan, Line, Hanna) for their time, effort, companionship and general awesomeness! I sincerely hope we get to do more, much more, soon! Hey all! Happy to announce further dates in Norway next month. On Friday March 4th I'll be at Bellman Pub in Notodden, Telemark (www.bellmanpub.no). A return to the area I lived and played in all those years ago... well 5 or 6 anyway :) It will be great to be back! Hi all! Thanks to everyone that's ordered the EP, hope you're all enjoying it, spread the word ;) Feedback has been great, so it's got me smiling and planning the album release one way or another for later this year :) The EP is still available to buy (€5) at Warm Up Cafe in Funchal (Madeira, PT), in hand in the Lisbon (PT) area delivered by your's truely, or via post (€5+postage) national/international. I'm happy to say that the EP, besides Portugal, has now been ordered and sent to the UK, France, Greece and Norway! :)

Talking of Norway... I'm happy to announce I'll be heading there in early March to promote my music. I'll be playing at Oslo's finest, the fabulous Cafe Mono on Saturday March 5th at 18:00h. More details about the show and further events that are being scheduled for Norway soon!

Hey all! A tiring but fulfilling affair, thanks a million to Peter, Alvim, the great sound crew and the kind management and staff at Bar Renhau-Nhau for a great night, and on a more personal note, for a great return to playing live, I needed it! :) All the bands were all great, but Richie Campbell's tight and talented performance won the heat hands-down, superb stuff! I was graced with great backup by Paulo Gouveia on Percussions, Vanessa Amorim on Glockenspiel, Melodica and Accordeon and Diogo Andrade on Double Bass, thanks so much to you guys for your time and effort! Hi all! Very proud to announce that I've been selected as one of the 25 bands/artists taking part in this year's Termometro Festival! Termómetro is an anual top notch 15-year strong live music festival/contest that promotes new and upcoming projects. It has recently moved to international status and is stronger then ever! The 25 selected bands/artists are split into 5 venue/heats with a grand final early February. I'll be playing January 15th at Bar Renhau Nhau in Costa da Caparica, Lisbon outskirts. Finally here! I'm very happy to announce that with Warm Up Cafe's support I now have a 4 track promo EP available. Excluding live shows, the current edition of the EP will be on sale exclusively at Warm Up Cafe in Funchal, Portugal. In the near future I hope to organize an online shop or similar to allow people everywhere to get one, but for the time being this is the scenario... bare with me... :) The EP features 2 songs from the Twists & Turns album recorded earlier this year ("The Love I Used To Love" & "Last Day In London") and two exclusive tracks recorded during the album sessions that will feature only on this EP, "The World, Iggy, and Me" and a studio-live acoustic version of "Drifting, Drifting". Thanks to everyone envolved in the EP becoming reality, Warm Up Cafe for their belief & support, Gabz for "in-betweening", Bruno Espadana for the excellent cover photo and of course everyone envolved in the album recording, of which these tracks are a sample of! Back in Lisbon trying to get life and other minor stuff like that back up and running :) Played a few gigs at Moynihans in Madeira before leaving the island, thanks to Tighe & Sinéad for having me, and a shout out to Mick Dunne and Serge & Vyvienne! At the moment I'm working on organizing a sponsored 4 track EP to finally get some of my music across to all you great people who keep me going. It will feature a couple of songs from the album, plus a couple of album out-takes that won't feature anywhere else! I hope to have definite news on this shortly. If all goes ahead smoothely (yeah right...) I'll be selling them at my shows and they'll be available at a few select locations (my hang outs...). Anyway I'll keep you posted! I also hope to be announcing a few gigs shortly! I'm pleased to announce I'll be back playing in Madeira in July! I've been invited to be part of Expo Madeira, the anual event held at Madeira Tecnopolo, and will be playing on the main stage there on the evening of Thursday July 15th! This will be a great chance to return to larger stages and to play with a full band so I'm really looking foward to it, it's always great to return to Madeira! Meanwhile I've added a few more FNAC showcases this month and will probably be adding a few more due to the FNAC Novos Talentos 2010 CD release on June 21st!

EuroDemo Santander Music Contest!

I'm one of the 115 artists based in Portugal selected for the EuroDemo Santander Music Contest! I've made the "cut" from the hundreds of aplicants from Portugal through direct jury deliberation! (Ego shine hehe) Next phase of the contest features online voting, so to vote for me or check out the contest in general click on the following: EURODEMO SANTANDER. This phase of the contest finishes on July 30th!

The contest offers money prizes, and the top 27 artists/bands (winners from each country) will feature with a song each on a Contest CD compilation. The overall five finalists will perfrom a live final in Santander later this year! Help me along! :)

My recent gigs went really well, our MusicBox performance was cut short due to scheduling problems or something... sorry, and thanks to all that showed up! Our O'Gillins performance went well and I should be returning there over the next few weeks, so thanks to Conor and the lads there for everything! The trip to Tomar went great, the organization was top notch, and the gig was my favourite for a long time! Thanks so much to Theatro Bar fow having us and to all that made it such a special gig! I was joined on stage for gigs by Helder Gonçalves on bass, Manu "Bo" Caires on harmonica, and Luís Ferreira on guitar, my deepest thanks to you guys for your availability and efforts, we rocked ;)

Great news! I've been one of the artists invited to be part of this year's "FNAC Novos Talentos" promo CD! The compilation is a great oportunity to get myself promoted, it will be on sale in FNAC stores around Portugal at a great price (usually around 5€ for a double-cd). I've selected my song "The Love I Used To Love" as my contribution as it's had great feedback from radio stations and people in general that have heard it! CD is released June 21st! It's a great way to find great new talent in Portugal so check it out, I usually do :) I'll also be playing a few solo showcases in FNAC stores from late June onwards, FNAC Vasco da Gama on Friday June 25th at 21:30, and FNAC Almada on Saturday June 26th at 17:00.

Hey all! We'll be having a jolly old get together at Warm Up Cafe in Funchal on Saturday April 24th to mark the album's completion! I've now uploaded 3 songs from my recently finished debut album to my myspace profile! Besides "Fare Thee Well", you can now listen to "The Love I Used To Love" and "The Devil That You Know", listen, spread the word, enjoy, and give me all the feedback you can!

As some of you know I've spent the last weeks in Lisbon contacting record labels, radio stations and getting to know the local music venues. Unfortunately no news on releasing the album yet... but... I'll be back in Lisbon from May onwards playing shows around the city! Confirmed gigs so far include O'Gillins on May 27th (www.irishpub.com.pt) and Braço de Prata on June 30th (www.bracodeprata.com) and I'll be announcing further dates over the next days.

Another thing I'll definitely be doing more of is playing on the beautiful streets of Lisbon, and I'd like to take the opportunity to thank all the lovely people who helped film our recent "Twist & Turns around Lisbon" idea. You were essential to the whole concept so thanks for your availability! And of course a massive thank you to Paulo and Vanessa from "Andersen Molière" for backing me up as we tramped around all day! Another glourious blue skied day... spent inside the studio hehe. I know the minute we finish it will start raining, it's that obvious. After a well deserved day off, we started Day 7 off with my remaining vocals and backing vocals. We then went through some details in the songs, did some re-amping and prepared things for the mixing. In the afternoon a very special guest, David Martins, dropped by to contribute with some amazing hammond playing, thanks so much for that! Francisco "Old Jerusalem" Silva re-joined us later on to continue his vocal and guitar colaborations. I'm actually writing this at midnight while he's battling away in the recording booth with some lovely intricate guitar melodies, good luck mate! :)

Day 6! Petra sang backing vocals on a few songs, they needed it and her original tone worked well with my voice :) We got Tiago and Margarida back in on Cello and Viola and squeezed some great orchestrations out of them hehe They now feature on 3 songs and I'm really amazed at how much string arrangements bring to my songs, something to think about for the future for sure :) Tomorrow........ Day four had me finishing off some electric guitars and vocals, experimenting with a few things and stumbling across some great melodies and themes for the songs. In the evening Margarida was put on the spot for some country fiddle-type viola playing and really came through :) Day five marked the beginning of some major contributions from Luís and Petra from Nobody's Bizness, and Francisco "Old Jerusalem" Silva. Some exciting guitar playing all day, and a great studio atmosphere was rounded off with a memorable live midnight session with all of us in the recording booth giving one of my songs a new face, clothes and personality hehe Things are really on track :)

Day two had me sweating away finishing acoustic and electric guitars, got to debut my old Eko in the studio and had a treat playing a couple of things on one of Paulo's Nationals :) Later on in the day we had first blasts with the string section. Margarida, Marta and Tiago dropped by for a few hours and worked hard under our close supervision and intense pressure hehe (Cheers guys!) The string s really transform music and the lads will be back in Sunday for some more!
Day Three was vocals day. I was nervous but things rocketed off nicely and we ended up with 7 or 8 songs before the day was through. A few interesting changes here and there really brought the best out of a few of the songs so I'm really satisfied. Another highlight of the day was a 2 hour stroll around Viana first thing in the morning. Blue skies and a beautiful town, what a combination!

Hey all! Finally hit the road, and sea, and made my way up to Viana do Castelo to continue work on the album. The ferry ride out of Madeira featured some rough sea and 24 hours of excrutiating boredome and films dubbed in spanish, a mixture that messed up my disposition to say the least :P On arrival and sleepless from the maritime adventure, I drove 600Kms over 6 to 7 hours and finally arrived in Porto, my safe haven for the first night. Pedro and Pupa welcomed me with licks and Alessandra & Alessandra provided some much appreciated authentic Itlaian dinner and general disposition, cheers guys! Monday saw me making the final short stretch up to lovely Viana do Castelo, meeting and catching up with Paulo Miranda, and settling in to what will be home for the next couple of weeks, and it feels it :) I'm right in the middle of the picturesque town and 10 metres from AMP Studio, so you can't really beat that. Tuesday saw us dive into work, a great day to start off with. We layed down some acoustic and electric guitars on 6 or 7 songs and I can already feel the songs are heading in the right direction! Next post will feature some pictures of the first few days! Thanks again to everyone willing me on and supporting this nutter's dreams, love and respect to you all!

Getting things ready for the next phase of the album recordings taking place early next month. I'll be away for for most of March so no gigs for a while. Producer Paulo Miranda has been busy working on some pre-production on the tracks and things are really coming together :) I'll try and keep info up during the recordings and let you all know how things are going. Thanks to everyone envolved in this whole process, it's been a long road but we're over the halfway line now! A series of personal set-backs and changes will probably mean I won't be able to finnish the aformentioned 2010 demo for a few months yet, but hey, it will happen sooner or later.

Concerning things that WILL happen I'm very happy and excited to announce the second phase of my album recordings will take place from March 2nd onwards at AMP Studio, in Viana do Castelo, and again under Paulo Miranda's exciting supervision :) Some great production ideas are coming together and a few very special guests will be dropping by and contributing, so as you can imagine (if you know me) I'm feeling gooooooooood hehe

Meanwhile I've finally come across some pictures of me and the guys live at the Ant3na Party @ Copacabana in November last year, so here's the few I have. Again to all who came along and supported us, thank you!

FNAC + Copacabana + RTP-M

The FNAC show was fun, thank you to Promorock for the invite, it was a great chance to strip some of my songs back down to basics and also play some older stuff that I haven't been playing lately. Thanks to all that came along and made the cozy atmosphere, cheers! My version of Fare Thee Well was later broadcast on local television RTP-M, I'm not sure on which show, but I caught myself on TV sometime during the week, thanks to whoever was responsible for that. The Copacabana show was eventful to say the least, I was really looking foward to it and can't help wishing it was a smoother show and more intense evening. Feedback has been good none the less, and given the type of show and band we were, with the few technical problems we had and my continuing throat issues, We just about pulled it off I suppose :). Thanks so much to all who were there, it was great so see so many people we know and that have been supporting us at so many shows now, we're all in this together! A big thank you to Antena 3 for the event, the Madeira Casino and Copacabana Club for the warm welcome and good treatment, and Siram's team for the difficult sound and lighting at the show, cheers to all. Some pics and possibly some videos of the show should be available soon. I'm scheduled to appear solo on a new RTP-M television show called Noite de Estrelas this coming Friday December 4th. I'll be playing two live songs in studio, the show starts 22:00 so catch it if you can!

Hey! Having a few throat problems lately, some vocal chord infection or something, hopefully will be able to keep my FNAC appearance this coming Sunday, fingers crossed (this is a great excuse if it goes terribly wrong hehe). Meanwhile I can confirm that we'll have the pleasure of performing at the Ant3na On Tour Warm Up Party being held at the Madeira Casino's Copacabana nightclub! It's one the best known night spots on the Island so we're really excited to be there! It's the perfect chance to play the songs and their new arrangements and make it a kind of teaser for the upcoming album. I'll be joined on stage, yet again, by my wonderful friends Hélder Gonçalves on bass, António Santa Clara on drums, Hector Teixeira on piano and accordeon, Marco Argénis also on accordeon and Martin Üvgard on harmonica. It's our biggest on-stage presence ever, and a great chance to hear the songs as they're intended to sound on the album, so come join us for a great night! See you there!

I'll be playing a solo showcase at the FNAC Megastore in Madeira Shopping this November 22nd. I'll be playing new songs I've been working on lately and debuting a couple of tunes written for the album that haven't been played live yet, so be curious and drop by. I'll be appearing at the same venue a day ou two later playing bass with my friends from local rock band On Mute.
My demo of Twists & Turns should be making it's national airplay debut sometime next week on Lisbon-based radio station SUPER FM, so I'm really proud and happy that more people will hear and possibly appreciate my music!

DD Peartree - Studio Report 1

August 31st marked the beginning of the recordings for my first album, scheduled for release in summer 2010. After a lot of financial and logistic planning, I decided to begin the album in Madeira, in Paulo Ferraz Studio. The album is being produced by the fabulous Paulo Miranda, a top portuguese producer (my favourite!) envolved in great albums by the likes of Unplayable Sofa Guitar, Old Jerusalem, The Legendary Tiger Man, Peixe:Avião, The Poppers and many others, so having him on board is nothing less than awesome (I hope he reads this...). The first step towards the album envovled 5 great days recording mostly drums, bass, accordeons, harmonicas, various organs and pianos, and some guitars. In other words, a lot of other people sweating away with me keeping the pressure on hehe. We got the basics for 12 songs done, next step will be taken later this year or early 2010 with me travelling to Paulo Miranda's very own legendary indie/alternative mecca (I really really hope he's reading this...) AMP Studio in Viana do Castelo to lay down the rest of the guitars, all vocals, possibly a few more songs and if necessary work on other instrumentation. 9:13 @ Sai de Baixo - Porto Novo

Another great 9:13 event is happening this Saturday, September 12th on the grounds of the Sai de Baixo restaurant in Porto Novo! For anyone who hasn't attended a 9:13 event, they are open-mic type showcases for talent in Madeira. Each artist/act gets around 20 mins to perform. It's a great mix of people and genres, and usually a hell of a party! Come and check it out!

This 5th 9:13 event is also the perfect time and place to recollect Diogo Camacho, a friend to all and talented young musician who was tragically lost to us earlier this year. He was part of the organization of 9:13 events and his enthusiasm, kindness and musicality are dearly missed by all of us that had the pleasure of knowing this fantastic young man! Cheers to you mate, hope you hear us making a racket on Saturday!

Had a great time at Kool Fest! Regarding the 3 day event in general, the club really organized things well, the whole setup was professional. All headliners and support acts played great shows. Personally I found the stage and sound top class and that really helped us get up and running from the "go". Thanks to everyone who came along, we all really hope you enjoyed it, feedback on the night and since has been amazing, cheers to you all! I was joined onstage by Martin Üvgard on harmonica and backing vocals, Helder Gonçalves on bass, António Santa Clara on drums and Marco Argénis on accordeon, a special personal thank you to them for their time, enthusiasm and friendship! The shows are growing in size and energy, let's keep it up! THANK YOU! Set list on the night was the following: The devil that you know, I've no fire, Please baby don't, Fare thee well, Twists & Turns, The love I Used to Love, A lie a day, Fare thee well (encore). The new songs are sounding great and it's lots of fun to do the up-tempo tunes live. I'll probably need a nice acoustic gig soon, back to the roots, just to keep things on track hehe. Another fabulous 9:13 event is being scheduled for September 12th! Nothing is 100% confirmed, but intended location for the event is the Sai de Baixo bar/restaurant in Porto Novo. The 9:13 events are great showcases for musicians and other performers here on Madeira Island, and are usually lovely bohemian evenings hehe... and definitely worth attending!
My KoolFest performance has been re-scheduled for Friday August 21st, supporting Kung Fu Funk. Band line-up for the the night will feature Helder Gonçalves on bass, António Santa Clara on drums, Martin Üvgard on harmonica and Marco Argénis on accordeon. Thanks guys for your availability and contributions! Cheers!

CAO Concert + News

Hey! 4 hours ago I was onstage at Baltazar Dias Theatre! What a buzz! Moments I'll keep with me for sure, I've ALWAYS wanted to perform there. The CAO concert was the musical celebration we all knew it would be! Music brings us all together, tonight we were all ONE! A massive thank you to Hector Teixeira, my long-time friend and musical co-conspirator, for being at the heart of this beautiful event and giving us the oportunity to share the moments we shared tonight! Thanks, love and respect to everyone who performed tonight - Gaitúlia, Xarabanda, Lidiane Duailibi, Liceu Jaime Moniz Choir, Ponta Delgada Youth Choir, Boaventura Male Choir, Marco Henriques, Marco Canelas, Hélder Gonçalves, Slobodan Sarcevic, Martin Üvgard, Cítia Lemos and Carolina. And most importantly to the CAO Sao Vicente participants: Your enthusiasm and courage are a lesson to us all!

Other news... Things are finally set to start recordings for my first album. It's taken a lot of effort and planning, and will be a long journey, but I can't wait to get started! I'll be working with producer and musician Paulo Miranda, a long time favourite of mine, so I'm over the moon about having him on board! Work will take place in different studios at different stages, I'm aiming to have the album ready for Summer 2010, fingers crossed!

Cancellations

Me and the guys were scheduled to perform on the opening night of the Atlantic Beats Festival this Friday July 3rd. The event has been cancelled/postponed indefinitely. My solo showcase at FNAC was part or the promotion for this event so has also been cancelled. Sorry to anyone planning to be at the shows, I was really looking foward to them both.

Meanwhile we're looking for an alternative venue for Friday night, in the Funchal area, and should have some answers by tomorrow Tuesday June 30th.

Easing my mind lately listening to Songdog's - A Wretched Sinner's Song, Drive-By Trucker's - The Dirty South, Andrew Bird's - Noble Beast and Old Jerusalem's - Two Birds Blessing, all great music that hits all the right spots for me, repeatedly.

Working on a couple of new songs I'm finding really interesting. I'm enjoying where my song-writing is going, and hopefully will get to share my music with as many people as possible over the next few months, get some real feedback and see what's what.

Will be posting relevant info regarding the C.A.O. concert in July soon, actually most of the line-up will be rehearsing later-on today, can't wait to see how it all comes together.

Pretty sure I'll be anouncing other Summer gigs shortly, just waiting on details regarding events and band line-up, I really want to keep the energy from the last few shows growing so I'll be focusing on playing live with drums and bass whenever possible.

Happy Birthday to all my "May" friends! Sorry couldn't be around more for the celebrations but this is life at the moment, too much work, too little play.

Days Of Discontent

...is the new song I've uploaded to my Myspace player. I say "new" but it's actually been available before as a live outake from the OnFusion show from September last year. The new recording is more as I intended the song to to be originally, a slower pace and more of a happy-sad song feeling. I wrote the song in August 2008 and it reflects stuff in my life at the time perfectly, I remember writing the tune after listening to the beatles for a day or two, and the lyrics just fell into place naturally, really nice and easy. For the recording I ended up whistling a little tune similar to the lyric melody, initially just as a guide for another instrument, but it grew on me so I left it. Looking back I think the song marks a turning point in my song writing, it definitely feels more connected to the songs from last year's demo then the material I've written since. Depending on the feedback I'll consider local radios for some airplay, it's a difficult song/recording for me to rate as it's really grown on me, we'll see... Martin Uvgärd recorded the harmonica licks, cheers mate.

Last gig we tried a full band version of the song, more in tune with my latest material, didn't sound bad, might be the direction to go...

DD Peartree @ Kool Klub Kafe 29.04.2009

Great night on my return to a great venue. Kool Klub Kafe is probably at the moment the best venue on the island, and their Wednesday nights with live music are gathering an impressive following. They've also been investing in equipment and stuff giving the live acts much more to work with. I first played there August 2008 at things have moved along nicely since then, and definitely in the right direction. I was joined on stage by Martin Uvgärd on harmonica and Hector Teixeira on accordeon and piano. Following up on February's gig at Rock's Club, António Santa Clara, this time on drums, and Hélder Gonçalves on Bass also joined in which really gave some of the songs the impact you need at a place like Kool. It's definitely not a quiet venue, and although people are generally interested and there for the music, some of my material struggled through the ambient noise barrier. The stronger songs were brilliant though, they felt great and I couldn't of asked for better on their debut. Great to have friends onstage, we got a good sweaty vibe going! Thanks to Kool and a great crowd for a great night! See you soon!
